Announcing Paddlecast, a new podcast from Paddler Media

In Paddlecast, co-hosts Betsy Ray and Billy Butler share paddling news from around the world and speak with paddlers who are pushing the limits: their own limits, and the limits of paddlesports.

In the first episode, Betsy and Billy introduce themselves (for those who don’t know them already) and share paddling news from around the world. The original Paddlecast was started by Chris Parker, who founded and ran SUP Racer until handing it over to Betsy. The new Paddlecast will continue to cover stand up paddleboard racing as part of the core mission of SUP Racer, but will also cover canoe and kayak racing including marathon canoe and surfski. Betsy and Billy have a Venn diagram of paddling expertise enthusiasms that covers it all (nearly).

In this first episode of Paddlecast, Betsy and Billy talk about:

  • What’s the most exciting paddling racing and formats happening right now, across SUP, marathon canoe/kayak, and descent racing?
  • Which of the big names will be racing at the Spring SUP Race in Italy, and what events should you be watching at the Spring SUP Race?
  • Did you see that video with the insane river conditions in South Africa? What’s the Umkomaas, and what made this year’s edition so epic?
  • What is the Devizes to Westminster (DW), and why has every fan of the race been talking about the top boats non-stop for the last four weeks?
